    Excessive oil consumption?

@St8fan , that is definitely not normal. I would bring this up with the dealer. 6 qts is not normal, towing or not. I've been towing a bunch and used at most 1/2 qt. If they say it's normal, ask them to show you in the service manual where it says that. Call out their BS!

    New 3.0L Duramax / LZ0 Announced for '23

And here's an interview with the engineer explaining it as well as talking about what they learned from the LM2, including the crank no start issue and why it takes a little longer to start after the update.

    OIL Analysis

I missed this last message as I was travelling with the truck and RV trailer. AFAIK, nobody has done an analysis of unused DexosD to compare to the regular Dexos oil so we don't know what's really different about it. It could be an additive for the turbo or some other piece of hardware in this...

    Excessive oil consumption?

Ours didn't use that much. On a 1000km round trip with our 6500# trailer, it maybe used about 1/2 qt. Over the whole season, totalling maybe 3000km, added just one qt. Which reminds me, I should change the oil to follow severe duty schedule. I dunno why, I have a feeling the dealer used...

    Dealer update=No Steering wheel controls

Since it was an ECU update for engine controls, it shouldn't have affected the controls or the radio. Come to think of it though, my buttons sometimes won't work when I try to flip though Sirius channels but that happens when I try to go too fast. Had it completely freeze once when I tried to...

BREAKING: New LZ0 Duramax Engine for 2023 GM Trucks

So still with a belt but increasing its replacement interval to 15 years/200k miles is great. Does this mean our current LM2 belts will last just as long? Also weird on the lower capacity cooling system. I know mine doesn't move from 100c when I'm towing even in 30c+ temps.

    Turbo Overboost Code

I'd still take it to them. It's on their dime and it was documented it had the CEL. That way, if something were to happen later, they can't turn around and say " you didn't bring it back".

It happens. Started on a Friday and finished on a Monday.

    Ordered 2022 Sierra Denali

Whatever the price was when it was quoted, ordered and agreed to, they must honour it. Mine, the salesman I dealt with at the time forgot to include the freight and A/C tax, around $1700. They discounted the base price and re-added the freight and tax, keeping the total price as originally...

    Ordered 2022 Sierra Denali

Wow, that was fast! (Being a little facetious 😁 ) That looks really nice, a little darker than the previous satin steel metallic like mine. Congrats!

    Rear Sag Towing

I tow a 6500# RV trailer with 900# tongue weight and she's level as can be. Using an Equalizer weight distributing hitch. That's what you really need.

    Exhaust/Engine Brake, or lack of

This is what the 3.0L diesel supplement says: So short answer, put it in tow/haul mode and touch the brakes. Manually downshifting doesn't do it. Doesn't mention cruise control neither but it may be programmed that way. I know when I have cruise control on and it sees an involuntary...

    Transmission fluid change

I dunno. Looks like the hole that was used in 6 and 8 speed trannys for either a plug or dipstick is now a screw in case plug. Found this on another forum:

    Exhaust/Engine Brake, or lack of

Towing around the RV right now and it does seem a bit on the weak side for engine braking. Feels more like a gasser but I do feel it.

    Transmission fluid change

On the 6L80E on cars, there is no dipstick. You remove a plug in the pan and you fill it until it starts dripping out. And you fill it through the hole where the trucks have a dipstick. I haven't checked yet if there is a check plug on the pan of this one. I go by the condition of the fluid...

Extended crank but no start issue

You could lie and say it did it just to get the reflash. There's no way for them to know. If it should happen out of warranty, you'd be on the hook for the bill.

    Exhaust/Engine Brake, or lack of

Since I have no point of reference, I can't say yea or nay about it. On my 6500# RV trailer, works well enough for me.

OnStar subscription being forced on new buyers

https://gmauthority.com/blog/2022/07/buick-and-gmc-models-get-mandatory-3-year-onstar-and-connected-services-plan/ I guess OnStar is dying and trying to keep it afloat or it's just pure greed. I just received an email from my dealer wanting me to trade in my 2021 Sierra for a new one which...
