With Ram and Ford both out gaining GM by a pretty significant margin in the towing department, GM is looking to answer.

ManufactureTow Rating
Silverado I-6 Duramax Diesel9,300
Ford F150 Powerstroke Diesel11,500
Ram EcoDiesel12,560

Bet with a review of the cooling system and a different rear end, the LM2 would be up in the high 10-11k.

I feel that the GM engineers are being real conservative with this drive train.

I drove my father in laws 2020 eco diesel rated to tow over 10k with 3.92 gears, and my truck feels like it has more ass. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I looked into a RAM with the VM diesel. With the 3.23, (3.21?), the tow rating was less than our 3.0 with same axle. Don't know the F-150 options. I also noticed that when pricing a Silverado or Sierra and specifying the 3.0, when you try to select "max towing package" the program automatically drops the diesel selection and substitutes a 5.3 or 6.2 engine. (I was pricing an LTZ CC 4x4). 9300# is enough for my use.
